House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-Calif.) husband has pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in May.

On Tuesday, Paul Pelosi was sentenced by Judge Joseph Solga to five days in jail.

However, CNN notes that he will “receive credit for two days already served and two days for conduct credit.”

And one of the five days will be served through a court work program.

CNN also reported, “Pelosi will be on probation for three years and pay upwards of $1,700 in fines.”

“The court also ordered an interlock ignition device to be installed on his vehicle for one year, restitution to remain in the court’s jurisdiction and his attendance in a three-month drinking-driver class,” it added.

Paul Pelosi, 82, did not appear in the courtroom, instead, Amanda Bevins, his lawyer, appeared on his behalf — which is allowed under California law.

He previously pleaded not guilty after he was arrested on May 28 following a collision with another vehicle in Napa, California.

The collision occurred as he was trying to cross SR-29 and was hit by a northbound vehicle. A criminal complaint stated that the two vehicles “sustained major collision damage.”

In the arrest report, a California Highway Patrol officer wrote, “His eyes appeared red/watery, he was unsteady on his feet, his speech was slurred, and he had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath. CHP determined Mr. Pelosi was the proximate cause of the collision.”

A blood sample was taken from Paul Pelosi after the crash, and prosecutors said that he had a blood alcohol content of .082%.

In California, it is illegal to drive with a blood alcohol content of at least .08%.

CNN notes that the misdemeanor he was charged with carries a punishment of “up to five years of probation, a minimum of five days in jail, installation of an ignition interlock device, fines, and fees,” as well as the “completion of a court-ordered drinking driver class.”

Law enforcement also alleged that after Paul Pelosi was asked for his ID, he handed them his license and an “11-99” Foundation card.

That is the California Highway Patrol charity which “provides emergency assistance to California Highway Patrol employees and scholarships to their children.”
