Former President Barack Obama was interrupted by a heckler during a rally for Arizona Democratic gubernatorial nominee Katie Hobbs.

Conservative commentator Drew Hernandez attended Wednesday’s rally to criticize him for supporting Hobbs.

At one point, the former president claimed Republicans want “an economy that’s very good for folks at the very top, but not always so good for ordinary people.”

“Like you, Obama!” Hernandez yelled.

Obama responded, “Are you gonna start yelling?”

“You have to be polite and civil when people are talking…set up your own rally. A lot of people worked hard for this. Come on, man,” he added.

Watch the video below:

BREAKING: Today I called out @BarackObama for supporting @katiehobbs , a woman running for AZ Gov who has a history of discriminating against BLACK PEOPLE at the Democrats Rally here in PHX, AZ

In a tweet, Hernandez shared the video of the moment and wrote, “Today I called out [Obama] for supporting [Hobbs], a woman running for AZ Gov who has a history of discriminating against BLACK PEOPLE at the Democrats Rally here in PHX.

Do you think 'democracy as we know' is at risk in Arizona?

“Democrat supporters unleashed screaming in my face and deported me from the rally,” he added.

As he was being escorted from the room, Hernandez repeatedly said, “Katie Hobbs discriminates against Black people!”

One attendee was seen yelling in his face telling him to “shut up.”

“The Democrats are deporting me again,” Hernandez said.

Once the commentator was removed, Obama addressed the crowd as he said, “This is part of what happens in our politics these days. We get distracted.”

“You got one person yelling, and suddenly everybody’s yelling. You get one tweet that’s stupid, and suddenly everybody’s obsessed with the tweet. We can’t fall for that. We have to stay focused,” he continued.

Obama also encountered hecklers during a rally in Michigan.

Additionally, he warned rally goers “democracy as we know it may not survive in Arizona,” if Republicans win the election.

His warning comes as RealClearPolitics’ average of polls shows Hobbs trailing Republican Kari Lake by an average of 2.8 points.
