Faced with a better-than-expected midterm election for Democrats, President Joe Biden insists he does not plan to make any changes.

During a press conference on Wednesday, The Associated Press’ Zeke Miller noted, “Americans are frustrated, in fact, 75% of voters say the country is heading in the wrong direction despite the results of last night.”

He asked, “What in the next two years do you intend to do differently to change peoples’ opinion of the direction of the country, particularly as you contemplate a run for president in 2024?”

“Nothing because they’re just finding out what we’re doing. The more they know about what we’re doing, the more support there is,” Biden responded.

Democrats went into the midterm elections as Biden’s approval rating was mired in the low 40s.

Additionally, polls have shown that a majority of Americans say the country is heading in the wrong direction.

Republicans were favored to win the House and slightly favored to flip control of the Senate.

And while the party in power historically loses an average of 27 House seats, Democrats appeared to blunt their losses.

Although Republicans originally needed to flip just one Senate seat to win control of the chamber, they lost Pennsylvania which is complicating their path to a majority.

As of Wednesday evening, it was unclear which party would control the Senate.

If Republicans win the just House, even with a slim majority, they could likely hinder Biden’s agenda.

However, if Democrats maintain control of the Senate, the president could still get judicial and other nominees confirmed.
