An update on Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin has been released after he collapsed on the football field Monday night.
On Tuesday, the team posted an update about Hamlin’s condition on their Twitter page and wrote that he suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit during the game against the Cincinatti Bengals.
“His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition,” the post read.
Hamlin’s marketing representative Jordon Rooney also shared an update on the 24-year-old’s condition on his Twitter page.
“Update on Damar: His vitals are back to normal and they have put him to sleep to put a breathing tube down his throat. They are currently running tests. We will provide updates as we have them,” he wrote.
On Monday night, With 5:58 remaining in the first quarter, Hamlin was making a tackle “to end the play” when he collapsed on the ground, according to Fox News.

Hamlin was on the ground “for awhile” as CPR was administered to him by the medical staff. He was then put in an ambulance and taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
After Hamlin’s medical emergency, the game was postponed, and the NFL Players Association posted a statement on Twitter about the player.
“The NFLPA and everyone in our community is praying for Damar Hamlin. We have been in touch with Bills and Bengals players, and with the NFL. The only thing that matters at this moment is Damar’s health and well being,” the Association wrote.
Fans came together to support Hamlin by donating to his community toy drive “Chasing M’s Foundation” through his GoFundMe page. The fundraiser has reached over three million dollars.
“This campaign gives you the opportunity to contribute to our first initiative and positively impact children who have been hardest hit by the pandemic. 100% of the funds raised will go toward the purchase of toys for kids in need,” Hamlin wrote.
