Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.) is being accused of stealing a scarf and wearing it at a “Stop the Steal” rally.

Gregory Morey-Parker, a former friend of Santos, claimed the congressman stole a Burberry scarf from him in 2018.

“The main thing that really kind of irked me was when I went to visit him in his home in 2018, I came for a few days, and when I got back to Boston, I noticed a Burberry shirt and scarf were missing,” he told CNN’s Anderson Cooper Tuesday night.

Morey-Parker noted he has a track record of losing items “all the time.” However, he explained he was bothered by the loss of the scarf because it was given to him by his best friend on the anniversary of his grandfather’s death.

“It was more of a sentimental value than, you know, a materialistic value,” he added.

Cooper then interjected to say, “I understand he was actually wearing something he took from you at a pre-Jan. 6 rally in Washington.”

As Cooper spoke, a video was displayed from a Jan. 5, 2021, rally in Washington, D.C., of Santos, speaking while wearing a scarf.

“Is that the scarf?” he asked.

Morey-Parker responded, “Yes, if you can believe this. He has the audacity … a stolen scarf to a steal the election rally. You have to love the irony, and the audacity, quite frankly.”

He appeared to mean a “Stop the Steal” rally.

“I mean, I wish I had that much audacity,” he quipped.

Morey-Parker added he had a “few choice words that I won’t share with you” about his reaction when he saw Santos wearing the scarf.

The New York congressman has admitted to lying about parts of his biography during his 2022 campaign. And he is facing calls for his resignation from local Republican leaders to members of Congress.

He is facing local and federal investigations into his finances and whether his lies violated the law, as well as a fraud investigation in Brazil.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) told reporters on Tuesday a member of Santos’ staff impersonated his chief of staff.
