Lawmakers got a laugh out of a House committee hearing on a resolution denouncing the “horrors of socialism.”

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.) confronted Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) during a House Rules Committee hearing debating the resolution on Tuesday.

The measure lists a series of atrocities committed by “socialist ideologues.”

It declares Congress “denounces socialism in all its forms, and opposes the implementation of socialist policies in the United States of America.”

Reschenthaler noted during the Democratic lawmaker’s opening remarks, she spoke about Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

“You know what they all have in common, right?” he asked.

Waters’ answer was a five-letter word. She replied, “Trump.”

Reschenthaler and others laughed following her response.

“North Korea, China, and Russia?” he asked.

Waters claimed, “[Trump] loves Kim Jong Un.”

“That’s quite the intellectual leave. I would say ‘communism,'” Reschenthaler responded.

He asked, “Would you like to denounce any communist leaders?”

The California Democrat then read from a sheet of paper and quoted Trump as saying, “Kim wrote me beautiful letters and they’re great letters, and we fell in love.”

“You sure you want to hear the rest of this?” she asked.

Admittedly, Waters’ answer was pretty funny. In part because of the bizarre things former President Donald Trump said about Kim Jong Un — which she read.

But also because it is just another example of Democrats’ obsession with the former president and placing him in the center of everything wrong with the world.
