White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is sharing if President Joe Biden regrets revoking the Keystone XL Pipeline permit.

During a press briefing on Monday, a reporter noted the Keystone XL pipeline “would have been operating today, or very closed to being turned on today.”

“Any regrets about canceling that project and any consideration of reversing any energy policies for a more balanced approach going forward?” he asked.

Jean-Pierre responded, “The president has been very clear about how he’s approaching the energy space.”

“He does it in a way that’s responsible. He does it in a way that delivers for the American people. There’s nothing new here,” she continued. “At the same time, having one of the most important, historical climate change… investments and policies. That is not going to change.”

The exchange comes over two years after Biden revoked the permit for the Keystone XL Pipeline.

It would have carried an estimated 800,000 barrels of oil daily from Alberta, Canada to refineries on the Gulf Coast.

In 2022, gas prices soared to an average of $5 per gallon following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

As of Monday, AAA reports the average price for a gallon of gas is $3.40, down 60 cents from a year ago.

The White House has previously defended the decision to cancel the pipeline and dismissed the idea it could have helped alleviate higher gas prices.

In 2022, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki said she did not believe the pipeline would have helped lower prices as she noted it is “not an oil field.”

“It’s a pipeline. Also, the oil is continuing to flow in just through other means. So it actually would have nothing to do with the current supply imbalance,” she added.

Psaki: "Are you suggesting that would solve the gas prices issue?"

Doocy: "Well, do you think that would maybe effect prices faster than getting the whole country off of fossil fuels?" pic.twitter.com/8NmYlr7YhA

She also pointed out it “has never been operational” and insisted it would “take years for that to have any impact.”
