At least three students of a Christian school were killed after a shooter opened fire, according to officials.

Additionally, two adults were killed in the shooting, officials said.

On Monday, a gunman opened fire in The Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee.

Police said officers “engaged” the gunman, and the suspect “is dead.”

In a tweet, the Metro Nashville Police Department wrote, “An active shooter event has taken place at Covenant School, Covenant Presbyterian Church, on Burton Hills Dr. The shooter was engaged by MNPD and is dead. Student reunification with parents is at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd.”
