“The View” co-host Whoopi Goldberg is sending a message to those who are offering their thoughts and prayers after the shooting at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee.

During the show on Tuesday, a day after the shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville, Goldberg used her outfit as a platform to spread a message.

She chose a black sweatshirt with the words “thoughts & prayers” crossed out.

Beneath them were the words “policy & change.”

Monday’s shooting left three children, all 9 years old, and three adults dead.

The shooter was killed by law enforcement.

David Rausch, the director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, told reporters in a press conference on Monday, “I want to echo what chief has said in reference to the great support and the great teamwork that has been taking place here and, as well as sending our heartfelt prayers to the families, to this community of these victims.”

“Now, I know there’ll be people who want to criticize us for prayers. But that’s the way we do that in the South, right? We believe in prayer, and we believe in the power of prayer. And so, our prayers go out to these families,” he added.

After the press conference ended and while news cameras were still live, a woman identified as Ashbey Beasley issued a plea for action on gun control.

“Aren’t you guys tired of covering this? Aren’t you guys tired of being here and having to cover all these mass shootings?” she asked reporters.

She went on to share she lives in Highland Park, Illinois, where there was a mass shooting on July 4, 2022.

That shooting left seven people dead and dozens injured.

Beasley explained she was in Nashville with her son for a family vacation, and noted she has met with over 130 lawmakers in Washington, D.C., to discuss gun control measures.

Finally, she asked, “How is this still happening? How are our children still dying, and why are we failing them?”
