President Joe Biden is facing questions about the historic indictment of former President Donald Trump.

As Biden was leaving the White House on Friday, Fox News’ Peter Doocy asked him about the news of his predecessor’s indictment.

“Mr. President, do you think that the charges against Trump are politically motivated?” he asked.

Biden responded, “I have no comment on Trump.”

According to a White House pool report, the president was also asked if he is worried the indictment will “divide the country.”

“I have no comment on that,” Biden said.

And when asked if he is worried about protests, he said, “No. I’m not going to talk about the Trump indictment.”

On Thursday, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg confirmed a grand jury voted to indict the 45th president.

In a short statement, Bragg wrote, “This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal.”

“Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected,” he added.

In a lengthy statement posted on Truth Social, Trump responded to the indictment, claiming, “This is Political Persecution and Election Interference at the highest level in history.”

“From the time I came down the golden escalator at Trump Tower, and even before I was sworn in as your President of the United States, the Radical Left Democrats – the enemy of the hard-working men and women of this Country – have been engaged in a Witch-Hunt to destroy the Make America Great Again movement,” he continued.

Trump added, “The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable – indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference.”

The indictment of Trump marks the first time a president, sitting or former, has been criminally charged in U.S. history.
