A trail derailment in Pennsylvania prompted the evacuation of residents and businesses.

On Monday morning, a CSX freight train carrying hazardous materials derailed in Whitemarsh Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.

Fox Business reports “precautionary evacuations” were ordered for nearby residents.

Officials added they do not believe there will need to be more evacuations.

Officials also said there were no injuries reported and there were no hazards to the public.

CSX told Fox Business in a statement that 16 of the train’s 40 cars derailed.

“While preliminary reports indicate that one car transporting hazardous material was involved in the incident, there is no indication of any leaks or spills of hazardous materials,” the company said.

It added, “The local fire department responded and declared an evacuation of just over a dozen homes out of an abundance of caution.”

The company also attributed the derailment to weather.

According to Fox29, “While on scene, crews learned the cars were carrying different chemical materials, including Urea, tetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene or silicone pellets and trash.”

“According to police, the train car with the pellets broke open, but the products do not pose a threat to the safety of the public,” it added.
