Elon Musk said goodbye to the Twitter bird, which has been the company’s logo for many years, and introduced a new logo.

On Sunday evening, Twitter owner and Tesla CEO, Musk revealed the new logo, the letter “X” was shining against the Twitter headquarters building, after announcing earlier in the day that the company would be getting rid of the birds on the platform.

“Our headquarters tonight,” Musk wrote in his tweet.

Earlier in the day, Musk conducted a poll that asked users if they wanted the platform’s background to be changed to black.

After this poll, Musk added that the platform would be saying “adieu” to the Twitter birds.

“And soon we shall bid adieu to the twitter brand and, gradually, all the birds,” Musk wrote in his post.

Chief Executive Officer of Twitter, Linda Yaccarino explained that it is “rare” to be able to get a “second chance to make another big impression.”

“It’s an exceptionally rare thing – in life or in business – that you get a second chance to make another big impression,” Yaccarino wrote in a post. “Twitter made one massive impression and changed the way we communicate. Now, X will go further, transforming the global town square.”

In 2006, Jack Dorsey along with Noah Glass, Biz Stone and Evan Williams launched Twitter, which was called “Twttr” and had green lettering. It wasn’t until 2010 that Twitter introduced the blue coloring and the well-known Twitter bird to the platform.

Musk’s space exploration company, SpaceX also contains an “X” in the name.

“Not sure what subtle clues gave it way, but I like the letter X,” Musk wrote in a post containing a photo of him in front of a poster with the words Tesla and X.
