Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was spotted taking questions at the U.S. Capitol using “voice-to-text” dictation with a tablet.

Fetterman, who suffered a stroke in May 2022 while serving as the Lt. Gov. of Pennsylvania, has since been coping with the aftermath of the stroke and depression.

“Fetterman taking hallway questions,” Bryan Metzger, a political reporter with Insider news wrote in a tweet.

“I had a stroke that was caused by a clot from my heart being in an A-fib rhythm for too long,” Fetterman said in a statement regarding his stroke. “Fortunately, Gisele spotted the symptoms and got me to the hospital within minutes. The amazing doctors here were able to quickly and completely remove the clot, reversing the stroke, they got my heart under control as well.”

Weeks after being elected, Fetterman was hospitalized at George Washington University Hospital after “feeling lightheaded.”

A few days later, it was revealed that Fetterman had checked himself into Walter Reed National Military Medical Center to receive treatment for “clinical depression.”

“While John has experienced depression off and on throughout his life, it only became severe in recent weeks,” Adam Jentleson, Fetterman’s chief of staff said in a statement.

In an interview with CBS News in April, Fetterman opened up about his battle with depression.

“The whole thing about depression is that objectively you may have won, but depression can absolutely convince you that you actually lost.”

IJR reached out to Fetterman for a statement but did not receive a response back by the time of publication.
