Mary Davis, wife of country star Randy Travis, credited their faith in God for helping them during his health battle.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Mary Davis, who spoke mostly on behalf of her husband of eight years, due to limited speech after being diagnosed with aphasia following a massive stroke in 2013, shared how God helped them get through that difficult season of their lives.

“He’s very faithful,” she said. “We, you know, we leaned hard on God.”

She continued, “It’s been 10 years now since the stroke, and that’s hard to believe… There’s really no words for it and there’s not a day that goes by that I just don’t thank God for his grace and his mercy.”

Following Travis’s stroke, the Grammy Award winner spent the first few years in rehabilitation which caused his wife to wonder “if we had another day on this sweet earth.” However, he managed to recover and is now doing well.

“We want people to understand strokes, stroke rehabilitation, that there is life after stroke. We did find that all of the rehab that we went through, life is the best rehab,” she said of her husband’s recovery.

Furthermore, she encouraged others who are in a similar circumstance to “just get out there. Go do what you used to do.”

“You know, the world may wonder why you’re out here, but just go out there and, you know, dance like nobody’s watching and sing like nobody’s listening and just have a good time. It truly is the best therapy,” she added.

On October 24, Travis will be honored in a tribute concert called “A Heroes and Friends Tribute to Randy Travis.”

Davis told Fox News Digital the tribute “means a lot to him.”

“I mean, just to know that he made the music that he made and that it stands the test of time,” she said.
