Video of the incident was posted to X, formerly Twitter, and images of the full-grown cow were displayed by the New York Post. These depicted the large animal standing in the seat of a car that had half of its roof removed and a gate placed where the passenger door should be.

The bull was tied to the gate railing, which held a sign that read, “Nebraska’s Big Rodeo Parade: Best Car Entry.”

According to NCN News Channel Nebraska, the man was pulled over by the Norfolk Police Department after another driver called to complain around 10 a.m. Wednesday morning.

They had been traveling eastbound on Highway 275. Police Capt. Chad Reiman described the scenario stating, “The officers received a call referencing a car driving into town that had a cow in it.”

“They thought that it was going to be a calf, something small or something that would actually fit inside the vehicle,” he added.

While the cow technically fit into the altered car, it was a violation of some safety rules.

Reimer noted, “As a result, the officers performed a traffic stop and addressed some traffic violations that were occurring with that particular situation.”

The vehicle’s owner was identified as Lee Meyer of Neligh. He stopped and got out to talk to the officer on duty. He told him that the cow’s name was Howdy Doody and was issued a warning.

Reimer concluded, “There were some citable issues with that situation. The officer chose to write him a warning and ask him to take the animal back home and leave the city.”

Meyer returned to his car and drove his bull home without incident.
