A car crashed into a Rosenberg Denny’s in Texas, injuring 23 people inside.
The Monday morning accident left a hole in the building and injured many, including a 12-year-old child as well as a 70 year old, according to local KHOU-11 News.
Elderly couple Roy and Margaret Rodriguez were injured in the crash while eating at the restaurant. Both were taken to the hospital where Roy Rodriguez was later released after being bandaged and receiving stitches, but his wife remains under medical care with a broken leg.
Roy Rodriguez said, “We’d just about finished eating and were drinking coffee and then all of a sudden, it come a storm.”
“There was blood all over the place,” he added.
Yesinia Aguinaga was also on the scene but was not injured.
She stated, “There were kids screaming and crying, and the scariest thing was seeing everyone bleeding from all over, and then a man squished underneath a table.”
She also explained how she nearly sat on the side where the crash occurred and how that affected her.
“I was supposed to have sat on that side, to be honest, but I had let a family go ahead of me and I felt horrible for doing that,” she noted.
The Rosenberg Police Department posted an update regarding the incident on Facebook.
Officials wrote, “The injuries ranged from minor lacerations to severe injuries, but all appear to be non-life threatening.”
“All injured parties were conscious at the time they were transported to local hospitals,” officials said.
“The investigation into the cause of the accident is ongoing at this time,” the department concluded.
The driver’s information has yet to be released but, he is reported to be a man in his 30s who was uninjured in the crash and was given a sobriety test.
