A famous rock singer announced he would be postponing his upcoming concerts for a month in order to undergo medical treatment.

Bruce Springsteen announced in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that “all performances” that had been scheduled for September 2023 were postponed in order to be treated for “symptoms of peptic ulcer disease.”

“Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band have postponed all performances currently scheduled for September 2023,” Springsteen’s announcement said. “Beginning with tomorrow’s show scheduled for the JMA Wireless Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.”

“Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows,” the announcement continued.

Peptic ulcers are described as being “open sores that develop on the inside lining of your stomach and the upper portion of your small intestine,” according to the Mayo Clinic. The most common symptom is described as being stomach pains.

Causes of peptic ulcers are most commonly from “long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs” like ibuprofen (Advil and Motrin IB),” according to the Mayo Clinic. While stress and spicy foods don’t cause peptic ulcers, they can worsen symptoms.

“We’re heartbroken to have to postpone these shows,” the announcement added. “Apologies to our fabulous Philly fans who we missed a few weeks ago. We’ll be back to pick these shows up and then some. Thank you for your understanding and support.”
