Israel conducted severe air strikes in Gaza, increasing the death toll in the Israeli-Palestinian war.
According to ABC7, the Monday air strikes were in retaliation to the surprise attacks carried out by the Palestinian extremist group Hamas over the weekend.
Video footage of buildings being toppled showed the level of destruction on the Gaza Strip.
The United Nations noted about 200,00 Palestinians are now displaced.
Newsweek displayed drone footage and images of the wreckage. Entire buildings lay in shambles as the remaining people wander through the destruction.
The U.N. confirmed airstrikes destroyed 790 homes and damaged over 5,000, according to Newsweek.
Israel and Palestine have been feuding for generations, but Newsweek noted the recent war efforts are the deadliest attacks in decades.
Nine hundred people are confirmed dead in Israel, while nearly 700 have been added to the casualties in Palestine after the air strikes and thousands have been injured, via the Associated Press.
Newsweek also reported the U.N. confirmed the Israeli air strikes hit schools and U.N. buildings and caused civilian casualties.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated in a TV address, “We have only started striking Hamas. What we will do to our enemies in the coming days will reverberate with them for generations.”
He also posted footage of a building being bombed to X, formerly Twitter, and wrote, “continue with all the strength.”

Division between those supporting Palestine and individuals supporting Israel led to recent clashes at protests around the world. Conflicts between groups erupted in major cities from Los Angeles to Chicago and London to Sydney, per the New York Post.
But there is also support for peace and an end to the bloodshed.
Executive Director of Northern Justice Watch Şerif Aydin posted an image of an Israeli boy standing before the Palestinian flag next to a Palestinian girl standing before the Israeli flag. Northern Justice Watch is an organization that defends human rights and addresses crimes against humanity.
Aydin wrote, “It’s easy to pick a side from thousands of miles away. But remember, it’s not roosters in a ring, it’s children in their beds.”
