A group that had protested against the Israeli government’s judicial reform plan has now switched gears to offer civil aid to the people and soldiers of Israel due to the Israeli-Hamas war.

According to Fox News, soldiers and hundreds of thousands of families are now receiving aid from Brothers and Sisters in Arms.

Noam Lamir, director of the organization, stated, “We are serving those who evacuated from the cities, the villages around Gaza.”

He noted that in some areas, 30% of the people are dead or have been taken hostage.

“So you have to take care of those communities,” Lamir said.

Lamir further explained their goal, stating, “We also feed the needs of the army. We self-supply. And we are ready for any mission.”

His father was a famous airforce pilot in the Yom Kippur War 50 years ago. He was tortured to death, and that legacy is helping to drive Lamir to help others.

He stated, “I could not believe that 50 years later that that war, the Yom Kippur War, where I lost my father, uncle, and cousin, we’d be (in a) much more difficult and challenging case.”

Lamir also described how Brothers and Sisters in Arms evolved from a different purpose. He said, “We started as a protest movement nine months ago against a justice revolution of the government, and the moment that this war started, we changed to be the leading aid organization.”

“We have 15,000 volunteers, here, but in many other locations. In the south they are distributing for the needs to the houses,” he added.

He detailed how Brothers and Sisters in Arms is also caring for cows in villages and household dogs who have been left behind in the turmoil.

Lamir noted, “I lost so many friends. I lost many friends of my kids that if I sit at home, do nothing, I’ll get mad.”

“I have to do my best at my age, 57, to serve my country and my people every minute,” he concluded.
