Gas stations in several states will be offering low gas prices throughout Thanksgiving week ahead of expected holiday travel.

Sheetz, a gas station chain with more than 700 locations throughout Pennsylvania, Maryland, Ohio, Virginia, West Virginia, and North Carolina, revealed it was lowering the price of its Unleaded 88 gas for the holiday week, according to WNEP.

The Thanksgiving promotion will last until Nov. 27 at 11:59 p.m., according to the outlet.

Unleaded 88 gas is a blend of 84 octane gas and 15% ethanol which was approved by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to be used in cars, trucks, and SUVs produced in 2001 or after.

To date, the national average of gas prices is $3.274 per gallon, Patrick DeHaan, the head of petroleum analysis at Gas Buddy wrote in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter

Good morning! The nation is waking up to the lowest Monday #gasprices since mid-January, with the national average at $3.274 per gallon. The most common price in the US: $2.99, the median price: $3.09/gal.

The promotion from Sheetz comes as the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) said it is expecting to screen roughly 30 million passengers using airlines to travel from Nov. 17 to Nov. 28.

TSA is reportedly expecting the Sunday after Thanksgiving to be the busiest day, with roughly 2.9 million people traveling.

Additionally, 55.4 million people throughout the United States are expected to be traveling during Thanksgiving week, according to AAA. Out of this number, 49.1 million Americans will travel by automobile, 4.69 million are expected to travel by air, and another 1.55 million will use some other form of transportation to travel for the holidays.
