White House climate envoy John Kerry wants a world without any coal power plants.
During an event at the United Nations Change Conference, Kerry took aim at world leaders who are not cracking down on such power plants.
“We’re going to be transitioning out of coal,” he insisted, adding, “There shouldn’t be any more coal fire power plants permitted anywhere in the world. That’s how you can do something for health. And the reality is that we’re not doing it.”

Kerry also shared he is becoming “more and more militant” about the issue of climate change.
“I do not understand how adults who are in positions of responsibility can be avoiding responsibility for taking away those things that are killing people on a daily basis,” he added.
In August, the climate envoy had harsh words for those who openly raise doubts about climate change.
“They flatly deny what is happening to our planet, and what we must do to save it,” he said during an event in Scotland, adding, “They incite a movement against what they falsely label climate change fanaticism, as they conveniently forget that the dictionary definition of a cult is the dismissal of facts in devotion to a lie.”

Finally, Kerry said, “So now, humanity is inexorably threatened by humanity itself.”
“By those seducing people into buying into a completely fictitious, alternative reality where we don’t need to act and we don’t even need to care,” he added.
While Kerry argued for the end of coal power plants, Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber — the president of the summit — said in November there was “no science” to back up the notion that eliminating fossil fuels will help counter climate change.
