Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is blasting Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) for sending migrants to various major cities around the country.

During an interview on CNN on Wednesday, Mayorkas was asked about the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border.

He argued his team has been working to address “the challenges that cities across the country are facing” as they grapple with an influx of migrants.

The secretary then pivoted to whack the Texas governor.

“Let me identify one fundamental problem here,” Mayorkas said.

He went on, “And that is the fact that we have one governor in the state of Texas who is refusing to cooperate with other governors and other local officials and coordinate efforts to address a challenge … which this country should stand united to address, that our country is facing.”

“And it’s a remarkable failure of governance to refuse to cooperate with one’s fellow local and state officials,” he added.

His comment comes shortly after the news that immigration officials processed over 300,000 migrants in December — setting a new monthly record.

Abbott started sending migrants on buses to various Democrat-led cities in 2022 as an attempt to bring awareness to the situation at the border.

“One thing is perfectly clear, and that is the Biden administration and a lot of leaders in Congress have no idea about the chaos they have caused by their open border policies,” the governor told reporters in April 2022.

He continued, “And they refuse to come down and see first hand and talk to the people who are really most adversely affected. And if they’re not going to come to the border, I’m going to take the border to them.”
