Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) claims former President Donald Trump “ordered” what she called “essentially a terrorist attack.”

The progressive representative was asked on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday how she would respond to allegations Trump is being targeted for prosecution due to political reasons.

“Has there ever been a president, Republican or Democrat, that has been subject to this level of criminal charges, indictments, and investigations? This is not about party. This is not about politics. This is about corruption and criminality,” Ocasio-Cortez responded.

She added:

“We’re talking about an individual who ordered essentially a terrorist attack on the Capitol of the United States in order to retain power. That is not about being a Republican. It is not about being a Democrat.”

Ocasio-Cortez appeared to be referring to the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol.

However, she declined to note that Trump has not been criminally charged for inciting the riot.

Additionally, she also left out his call for his supporters to act “peacefully” that day.

Nor did the congresswoman provide evidence to back up her assertion that the former president “ordered” the riot.
