WSJ Poll: Trump Leads Biden in Key States

Former President Donald Trump has the lead in six of the seven swing states in the upcoming presidential election, according to a poll by the Wall Street Journal.

the poll was taken in the seven battleground states — Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina and Wisconsin.

Wisconsin was the lone state that had President Joe Biden ahead by 3 points on the multiple-candidate ballot. Biden and Trump are tied in a ballot that just contains the two candidates — both coming in at 46%, according to the WSJ.

However, Trump fares much better in the six other swing states as he leads Biden in every state when it’s a one-on-one contest. The results are the same, albeit by fewer percentage points, when independent Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is added to the mix.

Per the survey, Trump leads Biden in Arizona, 47% to 42%; Georgia, 44% to 43%; Michigan, 48% to 45%; North Carolina, 49% to 43%; Nevada, 48% to 44%; and Pennsylvania, 47% to 44%.

The outcome is the same with RFJ Jr. added, according to the poll.

Trump still leads in Arizona, 39% to 34%; Georgia, 38%to 35%; Michigan, 39% to 37%; North Carolina, 42% to 34%; Nevada,  37% to 33%; and Pennsylvania, 41% to 38%.

Voters in these swing states also find that Trump may handle important decisions, per the poll.

This includes the economy (54%), inflation (53%), border security (52%) and mental fitness for the job, which came in at 48% for Trump and 28% for Biden.

Trump also leads in the approval rating in the swing states. Biden has a 38% approval rating compared to Trump’s 51%, according to his poll.

In 2020, Biden won Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin, states in the industrial North that had been leaning away from voting Democrat, according to the WSJ. He also won in Georgia and Arizona, two states that had previously did not vote Democrat.

Nevada and North Carolina are also viewed as crucial to the election.

Biden won Nevada by a narrow margin, while Trump took North Carolina by a slim margin in 2020, per the outlet.

These seven states hold 93 of the 270 electoral votes needed to claim victory.

• Arizona: Trump +5
• Nevada: Trump +4
• Pennsylvania: Trump +3
• Georgia: Trump +3
