There’s some speculation as to whether former President Donald Trump will be able to attend his youngest son’s high school graduation.
As of right now, it’s too soon to say, according to the HuffPost.
On Monday, Trump said it “looks like” Judge Juan Merchan was not going to let him attend son Barron Trump’s high school graduation May 17.
However, the judge, who is overseeing the Trump’s criminal hush money trial, said it was too soon to rule one way or the other.
“It really depends on how we’re doing on time and where we are in the trial,” Merchan told the court, as reported by the Associated Press.
Merchan also said he’s willing to adjourn for the day if “if the trial proceeds as planned.”
However, Trump’s camp heard something different, much sparked by a post from Jack Posobiec, a political activist, on X, formerly Twitter.
And this post:
Donald Trump Jr. took to X himself by writing “Pure evil” after Posobiec’s post.
Eric Trump, Trump’s other son, called Merchan “truly heartless in not letting a father attend his son’s graduation.”
Although he hasn’t ruled on the graduation issue, Merchan warned Trump not to miss court or disrupt proceedings. To do so may result in an arrest, per the outlet.
Barron Trump, 18, is expected to graduate from the Oxbridge Academy in Palm Beach, Florida, on May 17.
The trial is expected to last six to eight weeks. Jury selection alone is expected to last up to two weeks, per Newsweek.
One report from Inner City Press said if the trial was running on time, there was a chance for Trump to go.
Some posters on X had little sympathy for Trump.
Trump is the first former president to be on trial in a criminal case, Newsweek reported.
Trump is charged with falsifying business records regarding hush money paid to former adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.
