When a little girl became lost in New York City recently, she went up to the nearest “police officer” she could find.
That officer was none other than actress Mariska Hargitay, who was in the area filming a scene for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
The incident happened on April 10 when a little girl approached Hargitay because she saw the actress was wearing a badge — part of her character’s costume, according to People.
“The little girl had been separated from her mother in the Anne Loftus Playground in Fort Tryon Park and enlisted Hargitay for help,” a witness told People. “The actress obliged, halting production for 20 minutes to help the child locate her mother and to console them both.”
People also reported that the girl did not seem to notice the film crew and actor Ice-T, who was part of the scene.
