The co-hosts of ABC’s “The View” are defending a House Democrat for insulting Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-Ga.) physical appearance.
During a segment of the show on Friday, the panel discussed a drama-filled hearing of the House Oversight Committee that erupted after Greene took aim at Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s (D-Texas) “fake eyelashes.”
Co-host Joy Behar noted Crockett and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) were not the ones who started the insult-slinging, but instead it was “that crazy Marjorie Taylor Greene.”
Still, Rep. Alyssa Farah Griffin countered, “But I don’t love taking the bait though. And I love Jasmine Crockett…”
“By the way, why can’t they go after her the way they should? Why just comes from one side to be obnoxious? No,” Behar shot back.
Griffin insisted, “The problem is if one goes scorched Earth to the floor and the other meets them there, our politics is just going to descend.”

But, Sunny Hostin argued, “Going high doesn’t work anymore. If you go low with me, I’m going to go to the Earth’s crust.”
“What are we telling our kids though?” Griffin asked.
Hostin insisted, “Bullies only respond to that.”
Meanwhile, Sara Haines argued, “The genius in Crockett’s response was though they had ruled against her and she was saying, so let me know where the line is… And to me, that was a good way of showcasing the absurdity and hypocrisy of that rule in this instance. I do understand in general what you’re saying.”
“And she went lower,” Hostin chimed in.
She added, “You gotta go low, Alyssa. You gotta go low!”
During the hearing on Thursday, Crockett asked Greene if she knew what the hearing was about.
“I don’t think you know what you’re here for,” the Georgia congresswoman responded. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up…”
The hearing then exploded with members talking over each other as ranking member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) chimed in, “That’s beneath either of you.”
The exchange led to a several minute battle over whether Greene would strike her words from the record.
Later, Crockett addressed the House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and asked, “I’m just curious, just to better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleach blonde, bad built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?”
