After the Biden campaign hosted an event outside the courthouse where former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial is ongoing, a member of its communications team insists they are not talking about the substance of the case.
MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski pressed Biden campaign communications director Michael Tyler about the venue. She noted she agreed with actor Robert De Niro and the Jan. 6 officers who attended the event and blasted Trump.
However, she said, “I’m just curious about the location. Last week, when the members of Congress showed up to support Donald Trump. I called it unbecoming of the office, they’re serving the people of their district… American citizens are not supposed to politicize a court proceeding.”
“I feel the same way about the campaign,” she continued. “Is there any concern about the campaign getting a little bit too close to these court proceedings? And could that backfire? Any concerns, looking back, was it a good decision?”
Tyler responded, “No, there’s no concern. This campaign is not speaking about the substance of the trial in any way shape or form.”
“What we are talking about… is the unique threat that Donald Trump poses to our democracy. And so a lot of the coverage of last has been focused on the stakes for him. But we’re making sure the American people understand the stakes for them,” he added.

On Tuesday, the Biden campaign held an event outside the courthouse where closing arguments in Trump’s hush money trial were happening.
De Niro attended the event and sought to scare Americans into voting for President Joe Biden.
“We’d forgotten the lessons of history that showed us other clowns who weren’t taken seriously until they became vicious dictators with Trump. We have a second chance and no one is laughing. Now, this is the time to stop him by voting him out once and for all, we don’t want to wake up after the election saying what again?” the actor declared.
He continued:
“Yesterday was Memorial Day. It’s a good time to reflect on how Americans fought and died so that we may enjoy the freedoms guaranteed to us by a democratic government, a government that as President Lincoln said of the people by the people for the people shall not perish from the earth under Trump.”
Finally, he claimed, “This kind of government will perish from the earth. I don’t mean to scare you. No, no, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms.”
De Niro also asserted that the only way to “preserve our freedoms and hold onto our humanity is to vote for Joe Biden for president.”
