A Republican senator was caught on a hot mic sharing what she had learned from President Joe Biden‘s time in office..
After a press conference on the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border on Tuesday, Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) was heard on a hot mic telling Sen. John Kennedy (R-La.), “Bottom line, never trust a man whose uncle was eaten by cannibals.”
Watch the video below:
The line appeared to be a reference to Biden’s claim his uncle was eaten by cannibals.
In April, Biden spoke about his grandfather, Ambrose Finnegan.
“He was shot down, he was in the Army Air Corps before there was any Air Force,” the president said told reporters.
He went on:
“He flew single engine planes, reconnaissance flights over New Guinea. He volunteered because someone couldn’t make it. He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals at the time.”
Biden went on, “They never recovered his body. But the government went back and checked and found parts of the plane.”
An article from 1944 detailing the incident listed Finnegan as a passenger on a plane that went down, but was not shot down.
Additionally, it was not clear where Biden developed the claim there were “a lot of cannibals,” nor was it clear why he mentioned it in the story.
