Legendary actor Dick Van Dyke may be 98, but he’s not ready to retire from show business.
Van Dyke spoke exclusively to People after taking home a 2024 Daytime Emmy Award on June 7
“I was thinking of doing — 80 years in the business, I have a lot of stories to tell. I thought I’d just do a one-man show, like this,” he said. “Just sit and talk to the audience.”
His wife, Arlene Silver, said they’re “working on it right now” as she said he’s “gotten so many requests” to do a one-man show.
“He’s got amazing stories,” she said.
Van Dyke added he’s “got a lot of funny stories,” too.
The actor won his second Daytime Emmy Award for best performer in a daytime drama series.
He played Timothy Robicheaux on “Days of Our Lives.”
In accepting the award, Van Dyke said he couldn’t believe he won.
This “tops off a lifetime of 80 years in the business.”
“I don’t believe this. I feel like a spy from nighttime television,” he said, adding he has been “playing an old man all my life.”
“If I had known I was going to live this long I would’ve taken better care of myself,” he said.
