Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay considerhimself “lucky to be here” after a bicycle accident left him badly bruised and shaken up.
Ramsay, 57, the host of “Hell’s Kitchen” had a “really bad” bicycle accident in Connecticut, he said Saturday, per USA Today.
He posted about the accounts on X, formerly Twitter.
“It really shook me,” he says in the video.
“Honestly, I’m lucky to be here.”
Ramsay wrote he is “doing OK and did not break any bones or suffer any major injuries.” He did show off a massive bruise that left him “looking like a purple potato.”
In the video, Ramsay raises up his chef’s coat to show the bruise.
Ramsay was treated at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London. He gave a shoutout to the “incredible trauma surgeons, doctors (and) nurses.”
Ramsay, who said he is “in pain,” gave a warning about the importance of wearing a helmet.
He said he wouldn’t “be here now” if he hadn’t worn his helmet. He then showed a picture of his banged-up helmet.
“You’ve got to wear a helmet,” he said. “I don’t care how short the journey is. I don’t care the fact that these helmets cost money. But they’re crucial.”
