Hunter Biden’s reported appearance at meetings has White House staff “struck,” according to a report.
“What the hell is happening?” is reportedly the reaction from some senior White House staff members.
Following President Joe Biden’s return from Camp David on Monday, the younger Biden has attended some of his father’s meetings with top aides, according to NBC News. The outlet noted these appearances are “unusual.”
Citing four sources, the outlet also reported that Hunter Biden has talked with senior White House staff members.
As NBC News reports, “One of the people familiar with the matter said Hunter Biden has been closely advising his father since the family gathered over the weekend at Camp David after Thursday’s debate. This person said Hunter Biden has ‘popped into’ a couple of meetings and phone calls the president has had with some of his advisers.”
The White House responded to the report, telling NBC News that the president’s son returned with the elder Biden from Camp David and “went with the President straight into speech prep.” The president delivered a response on Monday to the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling on presidential immunity.
Hunter Biden was found guilty on all charges in June in the gun trial, as IJR previously reported on.
Although President Biden has not indicated he would step aside in the 2024 presidential election, the topic was discussed during a call between campaign advisers and donors on Sunday, according to NBC News.
The president has tried to quell concerns following his poor debate performance, including on Tuesday when he blamed it on all of his traveling, stating he “came back and nearly fell asleep on stage.”
Following the debate, Biden took a dip in his polling numbers, per FiveThirtyEight’s polling average for the 2024 presidential election. Trump held 41.8% while Biden was at 40.2%, as of Tuesday.
