DETROIT, MICHIGAN - JUNE 15: U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) poses for a picture with a supporter at a book signing at Turning Point Action's "The People's Convention" on June 15, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan. Former President Donald Trump will be giving the keynote address at the Convention this evening. Trump, who turned 78 years old yesterday on his birthday, will be debating President Joe Biden, age 81, next week on June 27 in Atlanta, Georgia. (Photo by Bill Pugliano/Getty Images)

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) doesn’t appear to know much about history, as she’s being called out for a recent post.

The controversial representative meant to post on X, formerly Twitter,  July 5 a patriotic blurb about the ages of the men who signed the Declaration of Independence, per the HuffPost.

But what seemed innocuous on the surface opened Greene to get schooled in basic history.

“The average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 was 44 years old, but more than a dozen were 35 or younger,” she wrote.

She listed eight names and their ages:

The average age of the signers of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 was 44 years old, but more than a dozen were 35 or younger:

Thomas Jefferson: 33
John Hancock: 39
James Madison: 25
Alexander Hamilton: 21
James Monroe: 18
Aaron Burr: 20
Paul Revere: 41
George…

— Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@RepMTG) July 5, 2024

The only problem was six of the eight listed were wrong, as a community note pointed out: “James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe, Aaron Burr, Paul Revere, and George Washington were not signers of the Declaration of Independence.”

Other X users took it from there.

“How did you forget Johnny Appleseed, Paul Bunyan, and Ronald Reagan?” Rep. Jack Kimble (R-Calif.) wrote.

An account called Three Year Letterman added Ben Franklin into the mix.

“Thank you for this, Senator. And the final signature was applied by Ben Franklin, who was president at the time,” the post read. “Patriotic facts.”

James Fox pointed out a failure in the education system.

“Marge continues to show us how much we need the Department of Education,” he wrote.

Another X user wrote, “I’m going to steal the Declaration of Independence just so I can personally show you who signed it.”

Another took Greene to task by writing, “You got a majority of names wrong. How are you in congress!!??? We need a civics test to run for government.”
