Former President Trump is urging Americans to unite after an assassination attempt on him Saturday at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
“In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump wrote Sunday on Truth Social. “I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin.”
The presumptive presidential nominee added, it was “God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.”
Trump was the target of an gunman’s bullet at a rally Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, per The Hill.
In the end, two were killed — the shooter and a spectator, the U.S. Secret Service said. Two other members of the audience were critically injured.
Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was identified by the FBI as the suspect.
Trump’s campaign and the Republican National Committee have assured Trump will still go to the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
The convention starts Monday.
