Melania Trump Calls Saturday’s Shooting a ‘Heinous Act’

PALM BEACH, FLORIDA - APRIL 6: Republican presidential candidate, former US President Donald Trump, arrives at the home of billionaire investor John Paulson, with former first lady Melania Trump, on April 6, 2024 in Palm Beach, Florida. Donald Trump's campaign is expecting to raise more than 40 million dollars when major donors gather for his biggest fundraiser yet. The event is billed as the "Inaugural Leadership Dinner". Melania Trump released a statement Sunday via X, formerly Twitter, a day after a shooter attempted to take the life of her husband, former President Donald Trump.

“When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change,” she said. “I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.”

“Let us not forget that differing opinions, policy, and political games are inferior to love. Our personal, structural, and life commitment — until death — is at serious risk. Political concepts are simple when compared to us, human beings,” she said.

Melania Trump also wrote about the other victims.

“To the families of the innocent victims who are now suffering from this heinous act, I humbly offer my sincerest sympathy. Your need to summon your inner strength for such a terrible reason saddens me,” she said.

Melania Trump added the shooter was a “monster” who saw her husband as an “inhuman political machine.”

“The core facets of my husband’s life – his human side – were buried below the political machine,” Melania Trump said.

“Donald, the generous and caring man who I have been with through the best of times and the worst of times,” she said.

Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, was identified by the FBI as the suspect, IJR reported.
