Former President Donald Trump asserted at a rally Wednesday that his political rival, Vice President Kamala Harris is “totally against the Jewish people.”
There is one glaring flaw in that assertion — her husband, Doug Emhoff, is Jewish.
Trump was criticizing Harris for not going to see Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu give his address to Congress Wednesday afternoon, the HuffPost reported.
Harris instead traveled to a pre-planned campaign event in Indianapolis.
She is scheduled to meet with Netanyahu Thursday.
“Even if you’re against Israel or you’re against the Jewish people, show up and listen to the concept, but she’s totally against the Jewish people,” Trump said at a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“And it amazes me how Jewish people will vote for the Democrats when they’re being treated so disrespectfully and badly,” Trump said.
Emhoff made history when he became the first Jewish spouse of an American president or vice president.
Much of his time as second gentleman has been spent being an advocate against the rise in antisemitism.
Emhoff has pointed out Trump has a history of making antisemitic remarks. He also hosted Nick Fuentes, a Holocaust-denying white supremacist, at his Florida home.
Many posters on X, formerly Twitter, pointed out Harris’ husband and stepdaughters are Jewish.
