The Trump campaign insists former President Donald Trump cannot agree to a general election debate because their could still be uncertainty about the Democrats’ presidential nominee.

In a statement, Trump campaign said in a statement, “Given the continued political chaos surrounding Crooked Joe Biden and the Democrat Party, general election debate details cannot be finalized until Democrats formally decide on their nominee.”

“There is a strong sense by many in the Democrat Party… that Kamala Harris is a Marxist fraud who cannot beat President Trump, and they are still holding out for someone “better.” Therefore, it would be inappropriate to schedule things with Harris because Democrats very well could still change their minds,” the statement added.

Harris became the presumptive Democratic nominee this week after President Joe Biden dropped out of the race despite previously insisting he was not going to end his re-election bid.

The Trump campaign released a similar statement last week about Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) about the vice presidential debates before Harris became the presumptive nominee.

“We don’t know who the Democrat nominee for Vice President is going to be, so we can’t lock in a date before their convention. To do so would be unfair to [California Gov.] Gavin Newsom, [Illinois Gov.] JB Pritzker, [Michigan Gov.] Gretchen Whitmer, or whoever Kamala Harris picks as her running mate.” Trump Campaign senior advisor Brian Hughes said at the time.
