Hillary Clinton didn’t let the moment pass Monday as she took the stage at the Democratic National Convention.
The former secretary of state didn’t paint a pretty picture of her political foe Donald Trump, who defeated her in the 2016 election, per Politico.
Clinton touted Vice President Kamala Harris’ prowess as a prosecutor and drew parallels to Trump’s alleged criminal activity.
Harris “locked up murderers and drug traffickers. She will never rest in defense of our freedom and safety,” Clinton said of Harris as a prosecutor.
“Donald Trump fell asleep at his own trial. And when he woke up, he made his own kind of history — the first person to run for president with 34 felony convictions,” Clinton said.
All Clinton needed to do was smile as the crowd chanted, “lock him up” — something Republicans said about her in the 2016 election cycle.
Clinton also spoke of Harris’ love for the United States.
“Kamala cares — cares about kids and families, cares about America. Donald only cares about himself,” Clinton said.
Another one: “Kamala Harris is for the people. That is something Donald Trump will never understand. So it is no surprise, is it, that he is lying about Kamala’s record, he is mocking her name and her laugh,” Clinton said.
“Sounds familiar,” she added.
