Fox News host Greg Gutfeld had someone call into his show who was a bit of a surprise, much to the elation of his audience — Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.
Trump called in to “Gutfeld!” Thursday night and spoke briefly to the host.
Trump senior advisor Dan Scavino Jr. posted the conversation on X, formerly Twitter, that started with Gutfield saying, “Hey Donald, you have my number, call me…I hope he’s not mad at me.”
When Gutfield returned from a commercial break, Trump was on the phone.
Gutfield cautioned Trump that he was on the air “so don’t say anything that’ll get you in trouble.”
“At this point, what difference does it make? We’re doing well, we’re leading in the polls,” Trump said.
The former president continued by seemingly talking about President Joe Biden dropping out of the race for the White House.
“He was 8 points down, and they said he has to get out, and they basically staged a coup,” Trump said. “And, you know, let’s all see how it happens, but I think we’re doing very well. I think we’re gonna do very well.”
The call ended with Gutfield saying, “Alright, Mr. P, I gotta go. I’ll see ya. Bye-bye.”
“I told you he was gonna call,” Gutfield added.
Trump’s call to Gutfield came after an interview between Trump and Fox hosts Bret Baier and Marth MacCallum was cut short, per Raw Story.
Trump was on the air to give a live rebuttal to Vice President Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.
He continued talking even when the hosts tried to end the interview.
MacCallum eventually tossed it over to Gutfeld.
“That wasn’t my fault Donald Trump,” Gutfield said. “He’s still talking by the way.”
Charlie Kirk, host of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” posted about the call between Gutfield and Trump on X.
“This is amazing,” Kirk wrote, “Donald Trump called into Greg Gutfeld’s show LIVE.
“Authentic. Real. Unscripted,” he added.“So refreshing after suffering through the DNC.”
