It appears not everyone in the Walz family will be voting Democrat in the presidential election this Fall.
A photo posted on X, formerly Twitter, showed at least eight family members will be voting for former president Donald Trump.
Their relative, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz is running for vice president on the Democratic ticket alongside Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee.
The photo, shared by former Nebraska Republican gubernatorial candidate Charles Herbster, has eight people sporting T-shirts that say, “Nebraska Walz’s (sic) for Trump.”
“Tim Walz’s family back in Nebraska wants you to know something…” Herbster wrote.
A representative for Herbster said the people in the photo are all related to Walz through his grandfather’s brother, Francis Walz, Fox News reported.
The family members state they are “distant” relatives of Walz and have never met him or talked with him.
“He supports our values,” one family member, who wished to remain anonymous, said of their reasons for voting for Trump.
Trump replied on Truth Social to the image and welcomed the endorsement. He also hinted he may be meeting with Jeff Walz, Tim Walz’s older brother, soon.
Jeff Walz has made his political leanings known by posting, “I’m 100% opposed to all his ideology,” referring to his brother.
“My family wasn’t given any notice thst [sic] he was selected and denied security the days after,” he said.
Tim Walz has two brothers and one sister — Jeff Walz, Craig Walz and Sandy Dietrich.
Jeff Walz also commented how he found out about his younger brother joining the Democratic ticket.
“The only thing I took exception to, and I will stand behind this 100%, was that we felt bad that we found out about his being picked as the vice presidential candidate from radio,” Jeff Walz said. “And we felt like we probably should have been given a heads-up and some type of security, at least for a short time, because I guess that is a big thing.”
