Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) is taking aim at former President Donald Trump for commenting on the attack on her husband nearly two years ago.
During an interview on ABC’s “The View,” Pelosi discussed her forthcoming book, which she dedicated to her husband, Paul Pelosi.
Co-host Whoopi Goldberg asked how Paul Pelosi was doing nearly two years after he was attacked in his San Francisco home and hit in the head with a hammer.
“Getting hit on the head three times is a horrible thing. And that was physical. But the traumatic effect for him, for us, for the family, but also for other political families as well, to just families in America, violence has no place in any resolution of any discussion you may have. So again, what was sad though, Whoopi, was that it was horrible. It was horrible when it happened. It was horrible. We didn’t even know if he was alive when we first heard about the attack,” the former House speaker responded.
She went on to blast Trump:
“But before you could even say anything, your friend who shall remain nameless, he was on there making a joke of it, and people were laughing and his family was making a joke and Republican governor making jokes and that. And that’s just horrible. It’s sick. It’s really sick. Even as recently as one of his speeches the other day, he said ‘she has a wall around’ — we don’t have a wall around our house. He’s always projecting.”

Finally, Pelosi said, “He probably has a wall around his house. We don’t have a wall around our house. ‘And that didn’t help her out there very much.’ To make a joke of that, and then they laughed at that. So, the trauma of it all is not just the physical but the impact of the rest of it.”
During a speech before the Fraternal Order of Police, Trump said, “Nancy Pelosi has a big wall wrapped around her house. Of course, it didn’t help too much with the problems she had, did it?”
The comment was perceived as a reference to the attack on Paul Pelosi.
