Daily Signal executive editor Rob Bluey expressed surprise Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris would make a public campaign appearance with former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming.
Harris and Cheney, an outspoken critic of former President Donald Trump, are to appear together in Ripon, Wisconsin, the city where the Republican Party was founded, at a campaign event, CBS News reported. Bluey noted that Cheney and her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, are “unpopular” with voters.

“I think this helps Trump. Dick Cheney and Liz Cheney are among the two least popular politicians in all of America,” Bluey told “NewsNation Now” host Connor McShane. “Frankly, I’m shocked that Kamala Harris would want to be seen in public with her. Dick Cheney left office as one of the, again, most unpopular vice presidents given the actions that he took while in office. Republicans wanted nothing to do with him, and now for some reason, the Democrats are embracing him.”
“I frankly just don’t get it,” Bluey continued. “I don’t see what they have in common with the Democratic Party other than they apparently want to have these endless wars and perpetuate this neoconservative philosophy that the American people have roundly rejected.”
The former Vice President announced his endorsement of Harris on Sept. 6, two days after his daughter did the same. Liz Cheney was defeated by Harriet Hageman, who was endorsed by Trump, in a primary during the 2022 midterm election.
Liz Cheney was one of several Republicans to vote for Trump’s impeachment following the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Harris leads Trump by 2.2% in the RealClearPolling average of polls from September 11 to October 2, with the vice president’s lead dropping to 2% when Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein, independent candidate Cornel West, Libertarian candidate Chase Oliver and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. are included in surveys.
