A caller sparred with radio host Charlamagne Tha God on Thursday about Vice President Kamala Harris’ performance in her Wednesday Fox News interview.

Harris appeared on Fox News’ “Special Report with Bret Baier” for her first formal interview with the network, where host Bret Baier pushed the vice president on her agenda to move the nation “forward” as president. The caller argued on “The Breakfast Club” that Harris performed poorly and was evasive during the interview, but Charlamagne disagreed, saying he thought the vice president excelled.

LISTEN:

“Yo, so Charlamagne, I watched your interview with Kamala Harris. I watched last night’s interview with Bret Baier with Kamala Harris and … she stuttered, she blamed Trump. She didn’t really have any answers to all of the questions that Bret Baier was asking her,” the caller said. “And I was very disappointed ’cause I felt like she should’ve used your interview as a sparring match to get ready for those hard questions that were going to be asked … Just questions to answer some really important issues that Americans having in general.”

“Well, I have to say, I disagree with you. I thought the interview with Bret Baier was fantastic, you know what I mean? I thought she answered every question,” Charlamagne retorted. “You know, you just don’t want to agree with her answers, but she answered every question.”

The caller cut Charlamagne off, saying Harris “evaded” and that “she was very disingenuous with all of her answers.”

Charlamagne asked the caller for “an example.”

“When Bret Baier asked, ‘What are you going to do different for the last three and a half years that you was in as the VP to you being president, what are you going to do different?’ Her answer was to one, blame Trump and then two, say something like, ‘I’ma turn a new leaf,’” the caller said.

Charlamagne laughed and said the caller’s characterization was inaccurate. Harris told Baier her administration “will not be a continuation” of President Joe Biden’s, though she did not provide details during the interview.

“Brother, I mean, to me, that was her best answer,” Charlamagne said.

“To not answer? … She wants to call Trump somebody who is ‘unstable’ that couldn’t run the country, yet she was the VP to Joe Biden for three and a half years and she never really was able to find a diagnosis to when Biden became unstable? … That’s being very disingenuous as VP and then you want the people to vote for you? That’s crazy!” the caller responded. “And then you going to blame Trump? That’s not how you win a interview, by blaming your opponent. You have to come in there and retort with facts.”

Charlamagne disagreed with the caller’s characterization, saying the vice president “answered the Joe Biden question directly,” reading her quote about her potential administration not being ‘”a continuation” of his.

Pundits offered mixed reviews to the interview, with CNN’s Van Jones asserting Thursday that Harris “did a magnificent job,” but that it was “an inkblot test.”

“If you like Kamala, you’re going to like it more, if you don’t, you’re going to like it less,” Jones said.

Charlamagne hosted a Tuesday audio town hall with Harris, with a caller on Wednesday telling him the vice president came across as “a little bit tone-deaf” to “young black Americans.”
