History was made Thursday as President-elect Donald Trump named Susie Wiles as his White House chief of staff,
Wiles, a GOP operative, is the first female to hold that post, as Fox News reported.
Wiles has been responsible for running Trump’s successful campaign, as he noted whiles celebrating in
West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Let me also express my tremendous appreciation for Susie [Wiles] and Chris [LaCivita], on the job you did. Susie, come, Susie,” Trump said. “Susie likes to stay sort of in the back, let me tell you. The ice baby. We call her the ice baby. Susie likes to stay in the background. She’s not in the background.”
Trump said Wiles is “tough, smart, innovative.” She is also “universally admired and respected.”
Trump also noted her place in history as the
first female chief of staff.
“I have no doubt that she will make our country proud,” Trump said.
Wiles ran Trump’s campaign in Florida in 2016 and 2020.
Her political career dates back to her time as former President Ronald Reagan’s campaign scheduler for his 1980 presidential campaign.
She also ran Rick Scott’s 2010 campaign when he ran for governor of Florida and, for a short time, served as the manager of former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman’s presidential campaign in 2012.
Wiles is currently a senior adviser to Trump. She is also his campaign co-chair alongside Chris LaCivita.
