Lara Trump announced her plans to step down as co-chair of the Republican National Committee (RNC).

After calling her role “the honor of my life,” Lara Trump wrote on X on Sunday evening, “The job I came to do is now complete and I intend to formally step down from the RNC at our next meeting.”

Serving as the @GOP co-chair throughout the course of the most consequential election in American history has truly been the honor of my life.

1) surpass all fundraising records

2) build the largest army of lawyers and poll watchers… pic.twitter.com/bcHdDHhwQq

Lara Trump is weighing multiple possible options as her next move.

One of those potential moves could be replacing Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.). Her father-in-law, President-elect Donald Trump, tapped Rubio as the next secretary of state.

“It is something I would seriously consider,” she told The Associated Press.

If Rubio’s nomination is confirmed, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) would pick who would replace him in the Senate. Rubio’s term expires in 2026.

Lara Trump continued: “If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I certainly want to get all of the information possible if that is something that’s real for me. But yeah, I would 100% consider it.”

She also shared that she doesn’t foresee any of the Trump family members taking positions in the White House this time.

“He really wants to get in there and do a good job for the four years, and that’s all he wants to serve,” Lara Trump said. “Four years, and he’s out.”
