There’s something to be said for the Beatles hit “All You Need Is Love” because that is just what “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson and his family is grateful for after his Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
According to a report on Fox News, Phil’s son Jase Robertson talked about his dad on the family’s podcast “Unashamed with the Robertson Family.”
Jase, on behalf of his father, thanked fans for their prayers and love.
Jase said Phil was keeping “the faith” as he battles Alzheimer’s.
Phil’s other son, Alan Robertson, said he was not expecting his father receive the outpouring of love he has.
“The outpouring of love, of support, of prayer … is almost a bit overwhelming for me,” Alan said.
Jase noted miracles have happened, especially when the podcast announcing Phil’s diagnosis was aired and he had some relief from the constant pain and loss of appetite had.
“During that little transition time, Phil had a little bit of a reprieve from, you know, his pain. Although his overall conditions remain the same, he just felt better,” Jase said. “We had gone down to have lunch with him, you know Missy and I, because, you know, if you bring him really good food, you can persuade him to eat.”
Jase said he has to “make himself eat.”
“I really feel like it was just the prayers,” Jase said of his father feeling better. “Because, you know, for months, he’s been on a downward decline.”
Jase said before that podcast aired, his dad was at the “lowest point in this whole process.”
“It was the first time I really saw some improvement. He felt a little better. We had a good conversation, and he was kind of in tune with the conversation,” Jase said.
Phil even went to church that Sunday.
“He didn’t do a whole lot, and he didn’t say a whole lot. But he came for an hour,” Jase said.
Of all the text messages he has received, Jase pointed out one from Donald Trump Jr.
“You know, the President-elect’s son,” he said. “I was kind of overwhelmed. We are very appreciative of all the prayers.”
