“The Young Turks” co-host Ana Kasparian said on a podcast Thursday that the confirmation hearings for President-elect Donald Trump’s nominees were “nothing but political theater” for Democrats.

Trump’s nominees, such as Pete Hegseth for secretary of Defense, Pam Bondi for attorney general and Marco Rubio for secretary of State, appeared before Senate lawmakers starting Tuesday. Those lawmakers questioned Trump’s nominees about their qualifications and expectations for entering Trump’s new administration. On “The Megyn Kelly Show,” Kasparian compared the lawmakers’ callouts to a “performance,” saying she agreed with some of the questions that Democratic New York Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand posed to Hegseth. Kasparian did not elaborate as to what those questions were.

“Yeah, I mean, look, I think a lot of these hearings end up being performances. It’s really political theater. Right now for Democrats, it’s nothing but political theater because all you need is a simple majority in the Senate to confirm these Trump nominees,” Kasparian said. “So they’re using this as a moment to kind of do their own political virtue signaling to their base.”

During Hegseth’s confirmation hearing on Tuesday, Gillibrand spent eight minutes lecturing Hegseth about the need for women in the military.

Kelly, on her podcast, called out some of the Democratic female lawmakers who grilled Hegseth and said that their tone and comments were a bad look for women in high positions.

WATCH:

“I cringe when our fellow women who make their way into these halls of power behave like the hysterical women many men still believe they always are. Like would you keep it together for the love of God? She [Gillibrand] was shouting. I was in the room, and she was like ‘What you said is hurtful,’” Kelly said. “Her facial expressions looked like she was losing it. She looked overly emotional, playing right to stereotype. It was unbecoming.”

“Then you went down the line, [and it] just got worse,” Kelly added. “So a lot of what I objected to was there. You don’t hear men behaving like that. We really need to, like, be a little bit more professional. You can punch as hard as you want to with the rhetoric and the words, but keep your tone. The nasal nature of the comments, the facial expressions, the near tears look, the un-Botoxed eyebrows will allow. Those are bad.”

With diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) measures reportedly being implemented into the military, Hegseth has taken a firm stance against women fighting in combat roles, which Gillibrand labeled as denigrating toward women in service. Hegseth, however, pushed back against the New York lawmaker, saying he’s “never disparaged women serving in the military” and “respects” their service, but he has concerns about where standards have “lowered.”
