It has been eight years since former anchor Matt Lauer left NBC following sexual misconduct allegations.

But, according to Don Lemon, Lauer still has a vibrant fan base and could make a comeback, Mediaite reported.

The former CNN anchor made his prediction on a recent episode of Hollywood Raw podcast.

The two became friends with Lauer after he was fired from NBC and the “Today” show in 2017.

“Whenever I see Matt out and about — or you know, if we go out to dinner, my husband and I go out to dinner with him and his fiancée, and people love him,” Lemon said.

Lauer’s career at NBC came to an end in 2017 due to “a detailed complaint from a colleague about inappropriate sexual behavior in the workplace.”

The network it likely was not an “isolated incident.”

Regardless of the allegations, women still love Lauer, according to Lemon.

“Women love him! They’re like, ‘Man, oh my God, can I get a picture? I love you. I miss you on television.’ I think the public loves him. The public misses him,” Lemon said.

Despite Lauer’s popularity, Lemon could not explain why Lauer has not capitalized on that and start his own YouTube channel like Lemon did.

“There are certain people who are on television where you feel like, well, ‘That’s exactly what they should be doing,’” he said.

Part of Lauer’s return could be thanks to President Donald Trump, Lemon said, adding the “ratings would be great.”

“Maybe with this whole ‘Trump era,’ when, you know, cancelling is ‘over’ – I don’t know, maybe,” Lemmon added.
