CNN’s Scott Jennings halted network commentator Xochitl Hinojosa Sunday after she stated she was worried about Department of Government Efficiency’s Elon Musk allegedly providing the FBI with his satellite internet, Starlink.

Despite Democrats’ vocal criticisms of Musk’s involvement with Trump since his endorsement of the president, the party ramped up their pushback against Musk in February, protesting in Washington, D.C., throughout the week. On “State of the Union,” Hinojosa told CNN host Dana Bash that she was “terrified” of Musk “acting on behalf of himself,” claiming her sources at the FBI are concerned he is attempting to place people in the agency “in order to advance his financial interests.”

“You’re terrified that the FBI might have the internet? I mean, I don’t understand, like — ” Jennings jumped in.

“I’m terrified that Elon Musk is putting people in federal agencies to figure out business opportunities for him,” Hinojosa responded.

Jennings, however, immediately pushed back on Hinojosa, stating that her claims were “overblown.” Despite the commentator attempting to echo her concerns, Jennings went on to highlight how Musk is working to “help” the U.S. government.

WATCH:

“He’s like sleeping on a, whatever, on the floor of a government office building seven days a week in order to help this government. The spending is interesting. We’re not going to balance the budget based on these spending cuts,” Jennings said.

“Although some of this stuff is patently, objectively ridiculous. When I see Democrats rushing out to defend some of the things that he’s cutting, I mean, it makes the Democratic Party sink to very low levels. But what I see him actually doing, and the most important thing he’s doing, is enforcing the doctrine of common sense,” Jennings added.

Musk was heavily criticized on Monday after he announced that he and President Donald Trump had agreed to upend the U.S. Agency for International Development, bringing it under the power of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Despite reports of billions of taxpayer dollars being wasted on international programs, some of which engaged in left-wing social engineering abroad, Democrats claimed that Musk’s move on the agency was illegal.

Jennings continued to state how the U.S. is returning to “common sense” under the Trump administration, emphasizing that the administration must look through the agencies to “restore” balance.

“This was the doctrine that Trump laid out in his inaugural address. What is the ideology of the Republican Party right now? It is best described as enforcement of common sense. We have uncommon nonsense on the left, and we have common sense,” Jennings said.

“When you look at what the government is doing, agency after agency, and spending some of our money, we’re not going to balance it on a $79,000 grant here or there, but we are going to restore common sense. That’s the point,” Jennings concluded.

In a new CBS poll released on Sunday, 53% approve of Trump’s leadership just weeks into his second term, with 70% stating that the president is fulfilling his campaign promises.
