Border czar Tom Homan during a Thursday discussion criticized “some” congressional Republicans for not providing sufficient assistance in securing the border.

Homan appeared with Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at the New College of Florida campus for a conversation about immigration and national security. The border czar called on voters to oust Republicans who are not strongly backing President Donald Trump’s agenda.

WATCH:

“Let’s not forget, under Trump one, Trump 45, you had the House and the Senate. They didn’t help him,” Homan said. “And I’m not just talking about Democrats … So bottom line is, now we have both again and, as Governor DeSantis said, we’re not getting what we need.”

“So they didn’t learn a lesson from the first administration. I was hoping and praying they learned a lesson. Let’s hope they come through … what have they done? Nothing,” he continued. “So hopefully they wake up or … some Republican Senators and Congress need to leave. We need to vote them out because they’re not doing the right thing.”

House Majority Whip Tom Emmer is pushing the Senate to “pick up the pace” on advancing Trump’s legislative agenda, asserting that congressional Republicans should be proceeding with more urgency to enact the president’s priorities.

Republican lawmakers are seeking to provide more funding to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to accelerate Trump’s deportation agenda, among other priorities.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said in February that congressional Republicans would codify Trump’s executive orders to ensure future presidents cannot undo his agenda.

“The president [has] 300 executive actions already, and we’re going to codify so much of what he’s doing so the next team can’t unwind it,” Johnson said at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
